I spent the day at the RV on phone calls. Jimmy & Tommy attempted to go see the big pink rock wall (rhodonite) at Sunnyside Mine. We had tried earlier this year, but were blocked by snow. They were able to get all the way through today, but the rock wall was still covered in snow. No pink jewelry today.
The Sunnyside Mine operation was clustered around Lake Emma and operated on and off through 1991. On June 4, 1978, a 70' tunnel being dug under the lake collapsed and completely drained the lake. Millions of tons of water, rock, & mud drained into the American Tunnel and came out at Gladstone, about two miles away. The cleanup took over two years. Because it happened on a Sunday, no miners were working and thus no one was killed. In the past, we would see mining debris, but there is hardly anything left now.
Since the wall was covered in snow, Tommy tried to climb it;

Better luck this time:
You can tell the "boys" were taking the pictures

And, this is just for fun. We see some pretty crazy stuff how here, but this rates at the top.
