Tuesday, June 17, 2914 Animas, Placer, Picuayne

We were lazy yesterday.  Mackie and I are still trying to get rid of colds & just hung out in the coach.  Jimmy took a short ride up Cunningham Gulch, but didn't take pictures.

This morning, we took the Animas River road out of town toward Animas Forks (ghost town).  They have started to restore some of these original buildings.

 Little Niagara Waterfall:

The only residence in Animas Forks that had an indoor potty.
A long hallway connected to a "3-seater."  Important stuff
since the snow probably was as high as the roof.
 The old Frisco Mill:
Thought they were going to restore this, but today it had a "for sale" sign in front of it.
 Starting up Placer:
 Small waterfall on the right:
Mackie, having a run in the snow:

See the snow piled up along the side of our trail as it crisscrosses up the mountain:

 Dirty windshield shot:

Sharp-eyed Mackie saw a snow shovel along side the trail:
Looking down on the road that will take us back "home":
The only critters we saw all day were marmots and there were several of those out enjoying the sun:
